Respiratory Care in Pulmonary Hypertension

Using a case-based approach, the lecture will review the five World Health Organization (WHO) groups of pulmonary hypertension, explaining the different underlying pathogenic mechanisms resulting in each group.  The session will identify treatment approaches to each group, especially WHO group 1/pulmonary arterial hypertension.  Throughout the lecture, there will be emphasis on the role of the Respiratory Therapist in the diagnosis and management of the patient.
